Tripp-designed G2 under refit at Pendennis

Pendennis has announced that performance sailing sloop G2 (ex. Cinderella IV) is currently undergoing refit works at its shipyard in Falmouth, with owner representation provided by Benjamin Stitt at Cornelsen & Partner.

Originally styled by Tripp Design as a state-of-the-art carbon-fibre, lifting-keel sailing yacht, her vertical bow and windows gave her a foot in both modern and classic design.

According to Pendennis, her new owners have requested to enhance her modern lines, with a cleaner sleeker look. Tripp Design has therefore provided structural restyling that will see her exterior aft classic cuddy cabin – a feature catering to more intemperate climates – removed to create a large social space that’s ideal for outdoor living.

Her redesigned pilothouse appears to float on the deck and provides dramatic sight lines along the length of the yacht. The overall result will be a beautiful, contemporary yacht with a silhouette that will be original and instantly recognisable, yet timeless, in her own right.

The addition of a large glass skylight will flood G2's pilothouse with natural light, highlighting the modernised interiors designed by Milan-based Nauta Design. To facilitate modern open-plan living, Nauta’s new design has opened up the main saloon with ‘zones’ that allow different social uses. A more spacious feel has been created in the owner’s cabin through the repositioning of a bulkhead further aft. According to Pendennis, “Nauta’s interior styling is focused on enhancing the minimalist interior, featuring natural woods and a relaxing geometry that blends seamlessly with the modernised exterior profile”.

The Pendennis engineering team is upgrading the yacht to hold modern and reliable technical, navigational, communications and sailing systems. Following her 9-month refit, G2 is due to be re-launched in June, at which point she will undertake extensive sea and sail trials before departing for the Mediterranean in July.
