Turner Yachting announce an extra 500m of berthing space

Turner Yachting has announced that the new Mid Harbour Marina outer wharf, which is located in Gibraltar and provides over 500 meters of berthing space, is ready for visiting superyachts.

Commodore Bob Sanguinetti, CEO of the Gibraltar Port Authority and Captain of the Port, commented that “We are thrilled to be able to offer berths for medium to long term visits, with pre booking available to yachts wishing to take advantage of the wide range of services and facilities available in Gibraltar or simply for their crews to enjoy the attractions on offer on the Rock.

“The additional berths, together with the extra fuelling points, when ready, will further improve the port's efficiency and traffic flow for superyachts calling at Gibraltar. An exciting development.”

Alex Lavarello, director at Turner Yachting stated, “This berth finally gives captains a fixed berth within the footprint of our busy port. It also allows us to diversify the services we offer yachts, moving Gibraltar away from the traditional fuel only calls. We are seeing a rapid increase in yachts wanting a berth to make repair’s, remove sludge, carry out under water operations and take on large amounts of stores and provisions’.

The Honourable Albert Isola MP, Gibraltar’s Minister for Shipping, added that, “This represents a significant increase in our berthing capacity for this elite sector of the shipping community.”

Downtime for crew is also being mentioned regularly by captains as a reason for staying on after fuelling and Turner Yachting has listened by organising tours of the rock and the lower St Michael’s caves for crew and guests alike (you can only get down with a military guide and a torch).

Alex went on to say, “There are plenty of other excursions and leisure activities available in Gibraltar including diving, the suspension bridge and the soon to be completed skywalk. We also organise activities in Spain including golf days, kite surfing and day tours to the likes of Seville, Cadiz and Ronda.
