Ulstein Verft’s first Espen Øino-designed explorer yacht begins sea trials

The first superyacht built by commercial shipyard Ulstein Verft has been photographed whilst undergoing sea trials.

The 88.5-metre (290-foot) Espen Øino-designed explorer yacht, which is named Olivia O. was snapped by local photographer Knut Erik Haaheim as it was put to the test in Norwegian waters.

The shipyard has not yet shared any official design renderings, but it has confirmed the superyacht will be based on its proven X-Bow platform.

Kristian Sætre, managing director of Ulstein Group, said previously, “The customer wants the characteristic X-Bow from Ulstein and together with Espen Øino, responsible for the exterior design and GA-plan, we have developed a solid yacht project.” 

The Ulstein explorer yacht will become one of the world’s largest when she is delivered later in 2018. It is understood that she will boast extensive exterior relaxation spaces and a circular spa pool on the aft deck.

This is Ulstein Verft’s superyacht project. Up to now, the yard has been building offshore support vessel and commercial craft in Norway for the past 99 years.
