V360 Marine launches virtual reality showroom for MC Palma

UK-based V360 Marine has launched a virtual reality showroom for MC Palma, a state-of-the-art exhibition centre in Palma de Mallorca that offers an interactive space for marine-focused companies.

The purpose of the new virtual reality showroom is to provide an identical exhibition space, which clients can access via mobile device, laptop or PC. It would provide them with complete freedom to explore and interact with products, link to company websites and promotional material and even configure products in situ.

Ben Vickers, co-founder of MC Palma, commented, “Our focus is customer engagement, providing a modern space for our clients to showcase their products and services surrounded by complimentary brands. When we spoke with V360 Marine and they mentioned recreating our facility in VR it sounded a bit too good to be true, but the results are better than we could have imagined, and the potential applications are endless”.

Sam Slater, CEO at V360 Marine, explained, “This was a really exciting project for us because we’re breaking completely new ground with this application – even to the point where we were supporting Amazon in developing their technology to allow us to live stream via their web service”.

The application is due to launch today (6th February 2019) at an MC Palma networking event.

Rick Hooson, V360 Marine chief technology officer, added, “This launch will be a real test of the technology. It is really new and virtually un-tested, but we are confident it will run smoothly. We have run extensive global tests in partnership with Amazon and even had a tester sat in a bar in Santander live streaming the service to another in Columbia. Although we are a little way off being able to teleport a beer, the VR Showroom ran perfectly.”

Russell Whitworth, co-founder of MC Palma, stated, “The real beauty of this system is that it isn’t bound by physical things such as floor space, weather or location. Our clients can visit our showroom from the comfort of their own home and our clients can have concessions of endless size with any number of products with cleaver interactive functions such as colour matching, configuration or brand marketing.

“We can link products to a shopping basket for online purchases and integrate the normal e-commerce benefits with the ability to remotely explore and operate products as if they were here in the showroom.”
