Dutch yard Van der Valk has announced it has taken an order from a repeat client for the third hull in its range of Explorer motor yachts.
Following the launches of the 25-metre (82-foot) Dutch Falcon and the 37-metre (121-foot) San Maria T, this 28-metre (92-foot) raised pilothouse Explorer project will feature naval architecture from Ginton Naval Architects and Diana Yacht Design, with styling by Guido de Groot.
Designed to withstand the harshest conditions, and with an extensive fuel capacity for long-range passages, the yard said it has gone to great lengths to ensure the new build will have the best possible sailing and sea-keeping abilities, including a distinctive round-bilged hull.
Yoeri Bijker, marketing manager at Van der Valk, commented, “We were genuinely honoured to receive this new commission order from a client after he has spent just one season enjoying his current Van der Valk. Around half of all our current orders are being built for repeat clients, showcasing the very high satisfaction rates among owners.
“The fact that this particular client has now ordered an Explorer was not a great surprise for us, as we knew he was planning to embark on some impressive transatlantic and transpacific voyages. We now look forward to building him the perfect platform for these adventures.”
The main-deck saloon will contain a formal dining space, with the option to extend the lounge aft into an al-fresco dining area with U-shaped settee. The yacht’s flybridge deck will be dedicated entirely to leisure with an undercover section comprising of a seating area and dining table, as well as a large wet bar and a compact L-shaped settee.
Additional key features include a whirlpool tub on the open deck aft, flanked by integrated sun beds, under which a Jet Ski will be stored.
On-board accommodation is for up to 10 people across a luxurious master suite with en-suite bathroom and his-and-hers closets; two identical VIP suites; and two twin cabins, each with en-suite facilities. The crew quarters will allow for up to four staff.
Power will come from twin MAN V12 1650hp engines for a top speed of 20 knots and comfortable cruising at 17 knots. A vEEM VG145 zero-speed gyroscopic stabiliser system two 32 kW Northern Lights generators will ensure on-board comfort at al times.
