Van Oossanen reveals details of new XL-300 superyacht for US market

Van Oossanen Naval Architects has collaborated with designers at Federico Fiorentino and Cristiano Gatto on the new XL-300 to create a superyacht with a voluminous interior with which to target the American market.

Based on Van Oossanen’s new Fast Displacement XL hull form - evolved from its infamous Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) - the newly developed concept has been designed to offer clients the longest possible waterline length in the 22GT, 300GT and 500GT categories.

According to Van Oossanen, by increasing the length by 20% the new design results in 10% more interior and 40% more exterior space; “So it is possible to have a 45+m yacht, reaching close to 30 knots, with a 6ft draft for less than 300GT”.

Responsible for her exterior lines, Fiorentino explained that her exterior designs are made to match these performance credentials; “I gave this yacht a contemporary sleek and shark look that perfectly combines with the lightness of its generous open spaces. An aggressive attitude reflects the high-performance hull that lies below the waterline.”

Inside, her accommodation is split across five staterooms on the main and lower decks, with six crewmembers housed in three en-suite cabins forward.

On board, key features include a superyacht helipad on the foredeck, an aft-deck infinity swimming pool and side-loading garage that is large enough to house two Jet Skis and a 6.25m tender. Van Oossanen shared that she could be built from an aluminium hull and superstructure to Lloyd’s and ABS standards, compliant to LY3.

The XL-300 will be offered for sale by Thom Comboy of Ocean Independence, who said, “It’s really exciting to be working with Van Oossanen, Fiorentino and Gatto on such a cool project, which has amazing potential for the US market.”
