Wally 93 launches custom sailing yacht Nahita

Monaco-based yard Wally has launched its 28.3-metre (93-foot) custom sailing yacht Nahita at its Performance Boats facility in Marina di Ravenna. She was sold to a repeat European client and keen racing yachtsman in an in-house deal last year.

Wally founder and president Luca Bassani developed Nahita’s exterior profile, and explained that the use of modern construction techniques allowed the overall displacement to be kept to just 35.5 tonnes.

“The Wally 93 fully reflects the Wally DNA to combine exceptional cruising capabilities and maxi racing performance,” added Bassani. His exterior design incorporates a deck configuration that conceals the central cockpit and the coamings.

The composite-hulled race-cruiser features naval architecture from Judel-Vrolijk, who previously collaborated on the Wallycento model Open Season. Sans Tabù worked with the yard for the first time to deliver Nahita’s interior design.

Wally has not yet disclosed any details of her interior styling, but promises that it will “open up a new route in light displacement yacht decoration.”

On-board accommodation is for six guests across three en-suite cabins, including an owner’s suite in the bow, while the crew quarters can house up to two members of staff.

Optimised for light to medium conditions, Nahita possesses an amidships centre of gravity to minimise pitching. This results in the saloon being situated forward of the mast. For a yacht of this size her North sails are particularly large, while Wally confirmed that the deck gear is by Harken, Blew Stoub and Winmar.

Rolf Vrolijk, of Judel-Vrolijk, commented, “This new design is streamlined for the Wally Class racing circuit. The yacht will have the ability to start surfing with 16 knots of wind, and will easily exceed the true wind speed.”

Auxiliary power will come courtesy of a single 255hp Steyr diesel engine for a top speed under power of 12 knots. The mast and boom are both courtesy of Southern Spars and a lifting keel will allow the draught to be reduced from 6.2 metres to 4.5 metres.

She will imminently undergo sea trials ahead of her scheduled regatta debut at the 2018 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in September this year.
