Weaver Boat Works launches GK80 sportfish Happi Daze

American yard Weaver Boat Works has announced that 24.58-metre (81-foot) Project GK80 has been launched and christened Happi Daze. The new build hit the water in Tracy’s Landing, Maryland, in early February.

Built from cold-moulded timber with a 6.52-metre beam and a maximum draught of 1.58 metres, construction work on Happi Daze began in February 2016. The hull and superstructure were joined 12 months later.

In-build pictures released by the yard last month showed that Happi Daze features an open-plan saloon with a country kitchen-style galley, marble breakfast bar and rich wooden panelling. This theme continues through to the lower-deck accommodation and the full-beam master suite, which is situated amidships.

Her upper deck helm position and spacious cockpit has been designed to make Happi Daze a capable sportfish yacht.

According to the preliminary specs, her performance should be able to match her sporty styling; power comes from a pair of 2,600hp MTU diesel engines for an impressive top speed of 45 knots and comfortable cruising at 38 knots. Weaver Boat Works is preparing to prove these figures during sea trials before Happi Daze is delivered to her owner later in 2018.

Further details are scarce at this point, with the total accommodation currently unclear.

Other superyacht projects currently under development at Weaver Boat Works include 29.57m Project DC97, which is expected to hit the water before the end of the year.
