Wild Group International announce partnership with German specialist Färben

Wild Group International, the superyacht vinyl wrapping company, has formally announced a new fabrication specialist, German foil-maker Färben, a specialist within the automotive vinyl wrapping industry.

Working closely with Wild Group, Färben has developed a marine-specific acrylic urethane coating that is much thicker than previous wrap foils, a key feature of which is the high-gloss, high-durability and scratch-resistant finish, features that have been previously unavailable in a vinyl wrap.

Greg Hoar, director at Wild Group said,  “Previous to the launch of Färben, we have had to say, ‘if you want high-gloss you have to paint it’. But Färben’s Extreme Gloss series in particular has a higher gloss and DOI (distinctiveness of image) reading than the paint equivalent, so we can now offer a superior finish which is great for our customers.”

He continued, “These foils have been designed specifically for the marine environment, with a 100 micron thickness (normal films are 50-70m) offering excellent resistance to weathering and chemical attack.”

Färben has supplied Wild Group with a colour-matched battleship grey for 68m M/Y Aviva, which is currently undergoing a full hull wrap at the Rybovich shipyard in Florida.

Hoar commented, “I believe the new Färben foils and films offer a superior finish to what’s currently on the market. We are excited to be working on this project and hope it gives confidence to other captains and owners to come forward and discover the benefits of using Färben products too.”

The colour-matching and custom manufacturing of Färben foil wrap currently takes a minimum of eight weeks although Hoar believes that standard colours such as black and oyster white should be readily available in the future.
