Awlgrip business recently announced the official opening of the latest Yacht Paint Application Centre (YPAC) in its ever-growing training network. Located in Moordrecht, Holland the new YPAC is the fourth dedicated, full-time training facility from one of the world’s leading manufacturers of yacht coatings.
The new Centre will run training courses on Awlgrip products and systems, covering a wide range of areas, including achieving the finest finish through best practices on preparation and application, health and safety guidance in all aspects of application, and Personal Protective Equipment requirements. Awlgrip will also be offering bespoke programs tailored to individual requirements.
This new YPAC follows the 2012 opening of its Florida facility and further expands on the success of the previous three global facilities. The modern, high tech building, split into two levels, houses a state-of-the-art application booth, tailor-made material and preparation areas (housed independently to prevent cross-contamination) on the ground floor with office space, break-out area and a large classroom on the first floor.
The YPAC features the latest in application, preparation and Health and Safety equipment and can accommodate large groups with ease. The large application booth also provides attendees the ability to paint a real boat shell, itself easily housed in the ground floor preparation area.
Awlgrip also has Yacht Paint Application Centres in Southampton, United Kingdom, Viareggio, Italy, and the Florida facility. Continuing its investment in training and education, Awlgrip is currently planning to open a fifth Centre, to be located on the East Coast of Australia.
The Awlgrip training courses are available for all customers, such as applicators, paint foremen, new project managers, specifiers and yards, no matter what their role is within the industry. In instances when customers require training for specific projects, Awlgrip experts also provide hands-on technical training and support on-site at the customer’s premises.
Speaking from the new centre in Holland, Derrick Nowak, global technical & commercial services manager commented, “Awlgrip is dedicated to working together with all its customers, old and new, locally and globally, to give them as much training and assistance with Awlgrip products as we can.
“Our dedicated Yacht Paint Application Centres allow us to give participants the opportunity to find out more about products that are particularly relevant to their operations as well as discuss their own procedures.
“We also give practical training to help optimise participants’ own processes and ultimately help them achieve superior finishes. We provide instruction on surface preparation, coatings systems, equipment, spray gun set-up and various other tips.”
