Yacht Vanadis wins Boat International Design & Innovation ‘Eco Award’

Vanadis is named after the Norse goddess Freyja. In Norse mythology she embodies love and beauty, which flawlessly illustrates this hybrid yacht.

Vanadis is the first made-in-Italy motor yacht to feature hybrid power with certification from Lloyds Register of Shipping, and successfully winning the World Yachts Trophies 2019 in the ‘green yachts’ category. The 31-metre (102-foot) yacht authenticates her green essence by winning the International Design and Innovation ‘Eco Award’.

The fully custom vessel was hand picked among award winners for her state-of-the-art technological solutions and spotlight for environmental stability and energy efficiency.

The International Design and Innovation Awards jury, said, “Motoryacht Vanadis has the most comprehensive diesel-electric power system yet on a yacht of modest (31-metre) length and has the first hybrid power certification by Lloyd’s register for an Italian-built yacht. Key to the success of the project was analysis of efficient power sources and distribution for all navigation and hotel loads based on the owner’s request for both fin and gyro stabilisation and great manoeuvring, including dynamic positioning.”

Vanadis is equipped with two Schottel STP 150 FP azimuth thrusters and electric engines alongside a pair of CAT C9.3 engines, with standard cruising speed at eight knots, and top speed of 12 knots. She accommodates six guests, with one master suite and two suite cabins, with room for a crew of four. The full electric mode allows for maximum comfort with reduced noise and vibrations during low consumption cruising, whilst guaranteeing limited environmental impact.

Her exterior boasts room for tenders and water toys, but also potential for sunbathing beside the water. A shaded space allows for alfresco dining, and flybridge exposed aft for ultimate relaxation on sun loungers so guests can bask in the sun free from worries of their impact on the earth. The combination of comfort, leisure and sustainable awareness clarifies that Vanadis was the right winner for the ‘Eco Award’.
