Yachting Pages takes action to offset 2020 CO2 emissions

Yachting Pages is proud to announce that it is taking action to counterbalance its carbon footprint through a partnership with Yacht Carbon Offset. This follows on from significant steps already taken to reduce its emissions to a minimum.

Working in collaboration with Yacht Carbon Offset, Yachting Pages has identified the unavoidable carbon emissions arising from its 2020 employee and business activities, which included the distribution of 43,000 brochures/magazines worldwide. Due to the negative impact of COVID-19, the Yachting Pages team travelled significantly less than in ‘normal’ years, yet overall the company still generated 38 tonnes of carbon emissions through its activity.

Yacht Carbon Offset has arranged and certified a carbon offset to counterbalance Yachting Pages’ 2020 carbon footprint and selected the ongoing Aruba Wind Power Project to complete the transaction. The Wind Farm contributes to the power supply of this Caribbean island and its particularly power-hungry desalination plant. Reducing the island’s dependency on fossil fuel power generation, the Aruba Wind Farm ensures that less CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere. This particular project was chosen as it is situated within a popular superyacht destination, as well as conforms to the rigorous standards imposed by the Carbon Credit programme.

Yachting Pages has already taken significant steps to reduce its carbon footprint. It now uses 100% recycled paper for its directories; 100% biodegradable laminate to protect its directories; and 100% recycled plastic bottles for its YPD packaging bags. It is wholly committed to other ongoing environmental actions including Sea Grass Protection, Blue Marine Ocean Preservation, Kids Education Programmes, and the Reduction in Single Use Plastic Bottles. Despite the negative impact on the economy caused by COVID-19, Yachting Pages remains driven to prioritise and pursue its proactive environmental stance. It is passionate about the environment and prioritises these concerns, whilst many other businesses focus on their economic recovery from the pandemic..

Simon Brooks, field operations manager at Yachting Pages, said, “We are proud to be an environmental leader in the yachting industry, by offsetting 38 tonnes of CO2 emissions in the last year and through our dedication to marine welfare and usage of recyclable plastics.”
