Youboat reveals the most sought-after superyacht features of 2019

Youboat, a part of Motors Gate publishers, has released its forecast regarding which yacht features are interesting the luxury yacht market in 2019, giving producers and sellers many reasons to be cautiously optimistic.

According to Youboat, the sales crisis that existed in previous years now seems to be over, and buyers have regained interested not only in luxury watercrafts, but also in less extravagant features, which stereotypically may please a wealthy owner.

In support of these considerations, the boat worldwide retail market in 2018 has increased the sales by 7% compared to the previous year, reaching a value of 22 billion euros, according to boating Market Monitor.

Grégory CHATEAU, Youboat CEO, commented, “Potentially, there’s no limit to human fantasy; and when we talk about luxury goods, there’s no limit to extravaganza as well. The most outrageous requests have been sent to shipbuilders and shipowners by aspiring buyers, as the most important online yacht-selling hubs, such as Youboat, know very well. But it’s also clear that there is a limited number of specific requests that repeat themselves with such regularity, to the point where they start appearing like actual trends.

“Listening to the most valuable builders, such as Lurssen, Amels, Blohm + Voss, Sunseeker and Perini, we’ve identified the relevant features in 2019 so far.”

Yachtdock’s key superyacht features which have increased in popularity during 2019 include:

  1. Crafted interiors: A classic but timeless feature. Furniture and internal finishing on board to give the yacht’s interior a similar style to that of a high-class, European city-based apartment.
  2. Professional kitchens: With the logic that once you are on board you should be so comfortable that you don’t want to disembark, not even for lunch or dinner, a completely equipped kitchen is another important feature.
  3. Temperature-controlled refrigerating chambers: Not a simple galley or a pantry, but a storage room with a temperature control system to preserve all perishable goods (fruits, vegetables and meat).
  4. On-board automation system: Nowadays, most of the electric devices and functions on board – including lighting systems and engine ignition – can be handled by an automation system, with voice control and remote management.
  5. Swimming pools: A highly requested benefit, especially from the wealthiest buyers. Pools are a safer place for children and/or people who can’t swim or feel uncomfortable in open water.
