Having grown up in Malta surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, Kurt Arrigo’s lifelong passion for the ocean and photography developed from a young age. Through his love for sailing and scuba diving, he quickly gained a reputation as a distinguished underwater and marine photographer.

Arrigo was commissioned to document the 1992 America’s Cup, which catapulted him onto the global stage and kickstarted his career in yachting and sports photography. Over the last 20 years, he has covered all the major international Rolex-sponsored yachting events, namely Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, Rolex Fastnet Race, TP World Championships, Maxi Worlds and Rolex Middlesea Race, and continues to hold the role of an official Rolex yachting photographer.

Awards and achievements

Arrigo’s talent for underwater photography won him the honour of showcasing his images on the walls of the Rolex Oscars Green Room for the 2019 Perpetual Planet Campaign. He also won the competition for Yacht Racing Image of the Year (2012) for his image from the Rolex Volcano Race in Capri 2012.

Arrigo’s work is the subject of three books, one of which was gifted by Malta to HRH Queen Elizabeth II in honour of the 2005 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

His commercial work has focused primarily on state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar racing boats and international consumer brands such as Rolex, Heesen Yachts, Perini Navi, Wally Yachts, Nautor’s Swan, VITA Yachts, The Financial Times, Forbes, The Times, HSBC, Boat International, Condé Nast, Oceana, the UN, and more.

Arrigo has also worked on several productions in the film industry and his images appear in leading publications around the world. USA Network, Warner Bros, BBC, CBS, National Geographic are amongst the outlets that feature within his portfolio.
