Amels 67m superyacht undergoes final sea trials

Dutch yard Amels has announced that its 67-metre (220-foot) superyacht Aurora Borealis has set out for final sea trials in preparation for her delivery.

The news comes after the 67.1-metre (220-foot) yacht hit the water for the first time inside the yard's covered dry docks on March 16^th.

The event was attended by the Amels project team along with the owner’s team, which included captain Paul Bickley and Fraser sales broker Antoine Larricq, the owner’s representative during the build.

At the event, Larricq commented, “Everyone is really impressed with how seamless this project has been. This is the result of all those hours of work and meetings, cutting materials, selecting marbles, and now we are right on schedule.”

British designer Tim Heywood, who is responsible for the exterior design, builds on the design of the Amels 212, however the Amels 220 features elongated decks and a 65-square-metre swim platform and beach club. Moving inside, Winch Design led the custom interior design brief.

Special features include a guest elevator to all decks, a steam room, spa and a fully-equipped gym as well as a tender garage spacious enough to house two eight-metre tenders.

She can house up to 14 guests across seven suites, made up of a master suite forward on the main deck, two VIP suites on the bridge deck and four convertible twins/doubles on the lower deck.
