Azimut Yachts Brazil names new CEO

Due to continuous expansion at Brazil’s Azimut-Benetti Group, the shipyard has announced management changes. Former CEO Davide Breviglieri, who has held the position for almost 9 years, moves up to chairman of the board of the Brazilian operation, while Francesco Caputo, who has been commercial director, takes over as CEO.

With focus on “macro” strategies linked especially to the expansion of the business model, innovation, as well as actions related to the environment, social and governance (ESG), Breviglieri becomes responsible for managing business models that are integrated with the brand’s global system.

“We have the fundamental support of the group’s directors board in Italy in this new challenge, which has always valued talent and efforts,” said Breviglieri. “This is an acknowledgement of the management process that has been carried out successfully in recent years, even in the Brazilian’s challenging scenarios.”

Azimut-Benetti was one of several European boatbuilders that opened production facilities in Brazil, including the Beneteau and Ferretti groups, but the latter two shut down their facilities after a few years. As one of the best-selling European brands in the US, Azimut-Benetti is undoubtedly making the most of the additional capacity and perhaps lower costs to meet the unrelenting American demand for boats.

Models produced at the Brazilian facility include the Azimut 56, Azimut 62, Azimut 74, Azimut 83, Azimut Grande 27 Metre, and the Atlantis 51. Reported billing value for the last year ending August 2021 was approximately US$ 54 million (c. €46.2 million).

“Without a shadow of a doubt, this evolution in the organisational framework will drive us even further,” Breviglieri continued, adding that he already foresees a doubling of Brazil’s production for the next three years, with the launching of new models and the expansion of the manufacturing infrastructure.

Caputo commented, “I have been part of the Azimut family for 16 years and I feel honoured for the recognition and for contributing to the development of boating, and fulfilling the dreams of customers from around the world. With new responsibilities, added to the support of a highly committed and qualified team, we will bring our customers ever closer to our products, innovations and the operational process.”
