Baltic unveils renderings of 43m Canova

Finnish yard Baltic Yachts has unveiled renderings of its 43-metre (141-foot) custom sloop Baltic 142 Canova. The reveal comes after the installation of the Dynamic Stability System (DSS) foil.

Canova is the first superyacht to feature a Dynamic Stability System (DSS), which, at the press of a button, deploys a 9-metre long athwartships foil to reduce heel, increase speed and reduce pitching motion.

With the carbon structure running directly below the owner’s berth amidships, designing and fitting the athwartships case through which the foil will move, has been a major engineering challenge.

Power will come from twin generators and a Lithium-ion battery bank – with the ability to run for long periods of time in ‘quiet’ ship mode. Baltic 142 is estimated to reach a maximum speed of 25 knots in flat water, with 25 knots of wind.

If all goes according to plan, the yacht is scheduled to launch in early 2019.
