Rome-based shipyard Canados has announced a new 27.8-metre (91-foot) model in its 919 Gladiator RD series; the ‘fastest’ yacht of its kind currently on the market with capability of speeds greater than 52 knots.
Designed with a 65-square-metre centre cockpit, which features a double-curve, one-piece laminated glass windshield to deflect airflow from the cockpit, even while travelling at top speeds.
The cockpit features nine square metres of sunpads aft, face-to-face sofas with coffee tables, a side bar, central dining table, chaises longues and an outdoor galley.
“With such performances, she will be, bar none, the fastest production luxury super day cruiser on the market,” the yard stated.
At such speeds, structural bulwarks make it safe to move around the boat, and recessed sunpads on the foredeck further supports its stability.
Power will come from triple MAN 2000hp engines, allowing for speeds in excess of 52 knots, with a cruising speed of 44 knots, even in 1.5 metre seas.
The first of the Gladiator 919 RD series will be launched in 2020 and will be presented to the public at the Monaco and Genoa yacht shows in September 2020.
