Cantiere delle Marche unveils 39m Flexplorer series

Italy-based shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) has launched a new explorer yacht series named the Flexplorer, with construction now begun on the first 39.4-metre (129-foot) vessel.

The new project follows a 39-metre (128-foot) new build motor yacht – registered under the series name of Flexplorer – which was listed for sale in June.

Italy-based naval architect Hydro Tec is responsible for the steel-aluminium design, which features a vertical bow and open deck. CdM stated that the yacht will “embody all the features of a pure explorer vessel" while creating “an extra dose of flexibility and functionality”.

The first of the series features a collapsible aft-deck bulwarks, which opens out on the port and starboard sides to create an “infinity deck”. The aft deck will come equipped with an A Frame crane, which allows for the effortless release of a tender weighing up to 2,500kg and measuring up to 8.5 metres from the aft deck. If not in use, the teak covered crane is stored flush to the deck.

Flexplorer will house a total of 12 guest across five cabins, with two Pullman berths. The crew cabins will accommodate five staff.

The 8.5-metre-beam yacht will also feature a gym and deck installed with skylights to allow for plenty of natural light.

Vasil Truja, CdM technical manager, stated, “This is a new class of ships that enlarges the potential uses of a yacht. The hull with the generous beam and oversize thickness is perfect both for the North West passage and for days at anchor in Saint Tropez.”

Built with two Caterpillar C32 1600-1800 rom engines, Flexplorer will reach a top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.

The first unit is due to be delivered to the owner in 2020.
