Horizon Yachts has released the first pictures of its new 27.45-metre (90-foot) yacht Skyline, which is nearing completion at the yard’s Taiwanese facility.
FD87 is the latest model to come from the Horizon Fast Displacement (FD) series, measuring in at 0.38m (1.24ft) longer than the FD85 on which it was based. Other models in the series include the FD74 and FD102 models.
Horizon’s in-house naval architects designed all yachts in the Fast Displacement range in partnership with Cor D. Rover, which will debut a cool blue hull with contrasting white superstructure.
She features Horizon’s High Performance Piercing Bow (HPPB), which was first debuted on the FD85. During testing, this was found to provide “across-the-board hydrodynamic improvements”, bringing both efficiency at slower speeds and performance at higher speeds.
According to Horizon, the 87 retains many more of the 85’s unique features, including an expansive 7.1m (23.3ft) beam. However, unlike the 85, the 87 features a fully enclosed bridge with Portuguese walkway in place of a raised pilothouse, accommodating additional inviting indoor entertaining, lounging and seating areas.
Speaking earlier this year, John Lu, CEO of Horizon Yachts, said, “The evolution of this enclosed bridge FD87 and the speed with which it all came together represents a true partnership between the client, the architect and the shipyard.
“Horizon’s new High Performance Piercing Bow coupled with an enclosed bridge and collaborative design between Cor D. Rover and the Horizon Yachts team leaves nothing to be desired in both form and function.”
On board, an open-plan saloon and formal dining area are generously lit by floor-to-ceiling windows, and there is a spacious beach club and swim platform aft for enjoying the water.
On-board accommodation for 10 is split across a spacious on-deck master suite, and four guest staterooms on the lower deck. Three crew members are also accommodated in two cabins located on the lower deck.
The FD87 will be fitted with two 1,136hp CAT C18 stabilisers, and will hold a fuel capacity of 3,480 gallons to yield a range of almost 2,000nm at nine knots.
