Fédération des Industries Nautiques cancels Salon Nautique de Paris 2020

Following the latest announcement from the French health minister, the Fédération des Industries Nautiques (FIN) has, unfortunately, made the decision to cancel the Salon Nautique de Paris 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Every year, the "Nautique" brings together more than 200,000 visitors and more than 800 exhibitors in December at Porte de Versailles. In light of these factors, the FIN intended to organise three shows with strict crowd management in place. This project made it possible to comply with the maximum visitor capacity of 5,000 visitors per show, while ensuring that both professionals and practitioners were not exposed to any health risks.

"The new measures hasten our decision and leave us no choice. The consequences are going to be heavy, particularly for all small and medium sized businesses, for whom shows are key moments for their turnover. The autumn and winter shows are events in which 70% of annual orders are processed. We will do our utmost to continue to help all the companies in the French boating industry as best we can to get through this new ordeal and prepare for the future by 2021," says Yves Lyon-Caen, President of the FIN.

The FIN is planning to launch a digital event on "tourism, territories, nautical destinations and innovation" in the coming days. Although nothing can replace the boat show, the FIN is determined to explore all solutions that can reduce the economic impact of the crisis on companies.

"France has a great relationship with the boating industry. More than 11 million of our fellow citizens take part in water sports or leisure activities. In order to support the industry and prepare for the next summer season, we wish to propose an innovative solution to the nautical tourism players in the coming days", declares the FIN. The national competition on nautical innovation that is usually held at the Salon Nautique de Paris should also be able to benefit from a digital version this year.
