As of yesterday, Fort Lauderdale welcomed guests to the annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS).
“We are truly excited about welcoming guests to this year’s show,” said FLIBS organiser, Andrew Doole, president of Informa Markets US Boat Shows. “It’s been a long road to get here, but it’s all been worthwhile. We have a great show planned.”
There will be more than 500 boats on display, a big focus on centre console sports boats, and with key players like Azimut to Sunseeker and Princess exhibiting, there will be everything for boat lovers to enjoy, Doole said.
“We are thrilled to have Lexus as the official automotive partner of FLIBS and to celebrate the synergies between the two industries,” he added.
“The show continues to attract affluent buyers who appreciate the lifestyle and sophistication affiliated with the Lexus brand, and aligns with our overarching goal of providing visitors with an elevated show experience.”
The outdoor show spans nearly 90 acres across multiple outdoor sites and will unveil more than 20 debuts, ranging from luxury yachts and motor yachts to sport fish, centre consoles and express cruisers.
Some had wondered at the wisdom of going ahead with crowd-drawing attractions considering Florida’s COVID-19 challenges. With many European superyacht owners and crews reluctant to travel to the US and go through tough quarantine restrictions when they return, FLIBS’ Superyacht Village at Pier Sixty-Six has been cancelled for 2020.
“It was a tough decision, but there was just too much uncertainty,” said Doole. “But it’ll be back bigger and better in 2021.”
The superyachts attending this year’s show will be on display at the main Bahia Mar docks.
