IGY Marinas adds North Cove Marina, NYC to its network of premier destinations

IGY Marinas announces that it has been contracted by Brookfield Property Partners to manage the North Cove Marina in Battery Park City, NY. As an eclectic venue within the New York Harbour, North Cove Marina is the newest addition to the IGY network of destinations.

Under the direction of IGY, North Cove Marina will become a premier docking destination for vessels of all types and sizes. IGY will leverage the strength of its network to open North Cove Marina to new vessels and customers and plans to enhance stays with special events and community involvement.

Tom Mukamal, president of Island Global Yachting commented, “IGY’s opportunity to join Brookfield as the operating partner of the marina is tremendous, and allows us to offer our current customers access to a truly unique New York City experience. North Cove Marina is located in one of the greatest cities in the world and at the epicenter of Brookfield’s iconic redevelopment in Lower Manhattan, offering the very best in cultural, culinary, and architectural surroundings, we can now extend these offerings to our customers around the world.”

North Cove Marina is a vital part of yachting in New York City, with its 18 foot depths and the capacity to host a diversity of vessels; the partnership between Brookfield Property Partners and IGY Marinas will enhance the surrounding waterfront esplanade.

David Cheikin, senior vice president, US Office Division, Brookfield Property Partners explained, “While the marina was formerly a country club for a small number of sailors, we plan to operate as a world‐class marina, a broadly inclusive sailing program, and a community‐based marina with seasonal and daily rentals.”

North Cove Marina will, according to IGY, undergo renovations, upgrading the marina aesthetically, structurally and mechanically in order to provide a 21st century experience.
