ISA Sport 120 launched in Ancona marking “new era” for the shipyard

Hull number 11 of ISA Yachts’ Sport 120 model was launched at the ISA facility in Ancona yesterday (5th July), marking what the builder has branded as a “transition towards a completely new era for the shipyard”.

The 37m yacht has been named Clorinda, and will debut to the public at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show. Her launch comes less than a year after ISA Yachts was acquired by the Palumbo Group, and, with her construction getting underway in October 2016, marks the first yacht to be completed by the Ancona yard since.

According to the yacht builder, “The Sport 120 is a model that strongly reflects the philosophy and aesthetic features of the ISA Yachts production, representing an ‘icon’ of the Italian brand. She combines sporty and timeless elegance, exterior living space and rich interior environments in a particularly successful and appreciated model.”

Giuseppe Palumbo, CEO of ISA Yachts said, “This is a first goal and we want to deem it as a good wish, and a sign of a true rebirth and transition towards a brand new course. A course which we started in a very quick time. Since its foundation in 2001, ISA Yachts has been a synonym of innovation, quality, style and excellence of “Made In Italy”. These are the very values upon which we are building our future strategy of development, with the goal to confirm a leadership position among the top world superyacht builders.”

In a recent statement, ISA Yacht shared that Clorinda represents a crossover between new and previous models designed by Enrico Gobbi, distinguished from her sisters by her innovative design elements, including dark-colour fashion plates with glass inserts and a dark-grey bottom line.

On board she offers spacious exterior areas that are balanced with bright interior spaces - all of which are fully customisable to exploit the available space in the best way for her owners. The master stateroom is laid out on two levels, using the fore sections of the main and lower decks. She also boasts large terraces, a spacious cockpit and fly bridge, a large salon and ample cabins.

To port she has a tender garage and two visible aft-deck staircases connecting her swim platform to her sundeck – a true trait of the ISA Yachts brand. She also boasts two Jet Ski garages on each side, a foredeck solarium and a skylight in the master stateroom to allow natural light and air in.

The sundeck is divided into different areas to allow for different activities, such as relaxing, dining and entertaining. She has two built-in sofas, a wet bar and a dumbwaiter connected to her galley. In the middle of the deck there is a dining area for 12 guests, shaded by the roll bar.

Accommodation is provided on board for up to 10 guests across five cabins and an owner’s apartment. Up to five staff are accommodated in three cabins.

Other key areas on board include the sundeck with large outdoor dinette, and six sliding glass doors that open outward from her main dining area.

Clorinda is propelled by three MTU 16V 2000 M96 engines, two KaMeWa waterjets and a KaMeWa booster, giving her a top speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots. She is also installed with an ABT TRAC electronic stabiliser to reduce pitch and roll for on-board comfort. According to the shipyard, this makes the ISA Sport 120 “the only high-performance yacht to feature large volumes, low draft and exceptional stability at anchor.”
