Latitude Yachts’ new 53m trimaran superyachts launched

Latvian shipyard Latitude Yachts has launched two identical trimaran superyachts earlier this month. The vessels – described as looking spaceship-like –  each measure 53.32 metres and are reported to be heading to the Middle East upon completion of their harbour and sea trials.

The hulls of the two craft are constructed from a combination of fibreglass and carbon fibre which is said to deliver ‘an extremely lightweight and tough solution’. To accompany the lightweight construction, two powerful engine packages will provide a top speed of over 28 knots.

“Trimarans’ exterior decks are laid with naturally grown Burmese teak, fabricated and fitted by an Italian company DUCA Solutions using the innovative vacuum technology.”

Valdis Irbe, co-owner of Latitude Yachts, said “These two yachts mean two years and five months of intense, complicated and very interesting work. I was brave enough to agree to bring this project to life. They have no analogues in size – they are the biggest trimarans in the world. It is a true pride for our company, for each member of our team, and for me personally.

“I would like to thank the customer for giving his credence and the opportunity to carry out this project of enormous complexity.”

The shipyard also reports that two more yachts of similar dimensions are to soon begin construction, also for Middle Eastern clients.
