German shipyard Lürssen has announced the signing of new 54-metre (177-foot) superyacht Moon Sand. The vessel, dubbed Project 13800 by the Bremen-based firm, will be constructed for an experienced owner in Asia and is slated for a 2021 delivery.
Custom furniture aboard the four-deck vessel is supplied by Pollaro, with a number of spaces created for family relaxation and entertainment – as per the owner’s requests.
Both interiors and exteriors, described as “masculine but elegant”, are designed by Bannenberg & Rowell Design. The studio’s Dickie Bannenberg said, “We are really excited to rekindle our long-standing relationship with Lürssen to work on the first interior and exterior collaboration since Coral Island in 1994. Project 13800 marks an important step into a new market segment for both Bannenberg & Rowell and Lürssen and we greatly look forward to her launch in spring 2021.”
This new build is another sub-90-metre project for Lürssen. Despite gaining a strong reputation for its larger superyachts, the company is making a concerted effort to push into the new size range.
In related news, Lürssen’s Bremen facility has recently been hit hard by a devastating inferno which engulfed a shed at the yard and could end up costing insurers a joint bill of nearly €600 million.
