Melilla reduces yacht fuel tax

It has been agreed, among other issues, to reduce yacht fuel tax from 7% to 0.5% in Melilla, a strategic transit point for vessels heading to the Canary Islands and Caribbean islands.

Only 150 miles away from Gibraltar, Melilla is a non-EU customs territory with no VAT and is a great option for yachts to verify the close of TPA. It is therefore becoming a place of reference for superyachts heading to mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands, or even France.

Luis J. Ayala Navarro, director of the Port Authority of Melilla, announced, “The Plenary of the Excellency Assembly of the City of Melilla, in an ordinary resolution session held on August 2nd 2021, agreed to initially approve the project to amend the general tax ordinance of the autonomous city of Melilla.”
