Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2022 announce finalists

The Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2022 are set to be the biggest and most high profile yet with 39 finalists announced. The winners will be determined by the sector itself with an industry voting platform opening in early October.

The UK’s leading maritime awards ceremony celebrates the achievements of the industry’s most outstanding companies and individuals. The theme this year is ‘Our Time is Now’, with a focus on the bright future that lies ahead for the industry.

Chris Shirling-Rooke, chief executive at Mersey Maritime, commented, “On every occasion over the last eight years, we have worked tirelessly to make them the best in the country, if not Europe, and I am supremely confident they will be the most exceptional showcase yet for our incredible maritime industry.”

For the 2022 edition, the awards have been granted 16 sponsors including four diamond sponsors; BAE Systems Chevron, Kays Medical and Liverpool John Moores University.

Shirling-Rooke continued, “Everyone who submitted an entry can be incredibly proud of their work; it was really encouraging to see the depth of the activity that is going on within our sector which we know to be growing further and contributing substantially to the regional economy.”

The nominees include D Morgan, Maersk and Royal HaskoningDHV for business of the year, and Bibby Marine, Isle of Man Ship Registry (IOMSR) and Royal HaskoningDHV for the environmental, social and governance award.

The diversity and inclusion award is between Liverpool Seafarers Centre, Maersk DE&I and National Oceanography Centre, and the best newcomer award sees Liverpool City Region Freeport, Robok Limited and SEP Hydrographic nominated.
