M/Y Albatross to be first customer at new La Ciotat dry dock

The new dry dock in La Ciotat, part of La Ciotat Shipyards, opened on 3rd April, is to welcome 72m Delta Marine superyacht Albatross, as its first customer.

Working in partnership with MB92, Blohm + Voss signed a 35 month lease on the dock las month; MB92’s superyacht refit projects have now been transferred from Barcelona to La Ciotat. An official opening was held, where shipyard manager Miquel Angel Lliteras was appointed, as was general manager Jean-Gabriel Tridon. Peter Lürssen, CEO of Lürssen was also at the ceremony.

In a statement, MB92, which has worked with Blohm + Voss’ parent company Lürssen for over 20 years, commented, “We are striving to build firm relationships with a local network of experienced companies and suppliers, and at the same time promote a training programme, which would stimulate apprenticeships within the industry.”

The dry dock was reconfigured to measure 200m by 60m, so is now able to service superyachts measuring up to 195m.

La Ciotat Shipyards is also developing other free spaces on the site, and looking to install a 4,000 tonne lift.
