Overmarine launches flagship superyacht El Leon

Overmarine Group’s Mangusta Gransport 54 superyacht has been launched at the yard’s facility in Pisa, and christened El Leon.

The new-build hit the water on April 28th, and the 54-metre (177-foot) Alberto Mancini-designed superyacht will become Overmarine’s flagship, once she has been delivered to her new owner later this year.

Maurizio Balducci, CEO of Overmarine Group, commented, “In the automotive sector, Gransport is a synonym for high performance and optimal comfort. These principles have been the key starting point for the creation of the new line.

“We translated them and applied them to our business, giving life to a model that is an authentic combination of excellence between performance and autonomy.”

Overmarine first announced the concept for the Gransport range at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show, undertaking tank tests and engineering studies shortly afterwards. This resulted in the design being lengthened by six metres.

The all-aluminium yacht has a shallow draught of 2.3 metres, which is ideal for exploring Mediterranean islands or the shallow waters of the Bahamas. According to the yard, she also features an on-board stabilisation system that delivers “extraordinary levels of comfort”.

Her numerous exterior spaces include a sundeck for al-fresco dining and sheltered relaxation, while the foredeck boasts an infinity pool with a glass floor, which allows light to filter through into the master suite below.

On-board accommodation is for up to 10 guests, split across five generous staterooms, with crew quarters for up to nine staff.

El Leon’s racy, aerodynamic profile mirrors her sporty performance; power comes from four 2,600hp diesel MTU 16V 2000 M94 engines, which should allow for a top speed of 30 knots and maximum cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles.

Other superyacht projects currently under development at the yard include the Mangusta Gransport 45, which is due to launch in 2019.
