Sanlorenzo announces successful maiden voyage of its inaugural explorer superyacht

Italian shipyard, Sanlorenzo has announced this week that their inaugural explorer superyacht, the 42.4m Moka, has successfully completed her maiden voyage.

Departing from the Sanlorenzo shipyard facility in Viareggio, Italy on December 11th 2015, Moka’s maiden voyage was a transatlantic journey, executed with her new captain and crew of eight.

She first headed towards Palma de Mallorca before making her way to Saint Martin in the Caribbean for an overnight stay on January 6th. The next day she departed for Florida, travelling 1,100nm to American shores where her new owner met her in West Palm Beach on 10th January 2016.

Sanlorenzo commented, “Following over 5,600nm of navigation and a month a sea, of which 19 whole days of sailing at the average speed of 12.5 knots, Moka does not show any sign of wear and, moreover, she has not experienced any serious issues. The hull, equipment and machinery have not been affected in the least by the long navigation and unrelenting sea.”

Built to a custom design, Moka’s layout consists of five cabins and a gym on her lower deck. She has a spacious owner’s suite on the main deck, and two salons on the main and upper deck.

Designed for long-range cruising, the 460Exp is powered by CAT C32 Acert engines that give her a cruising speed of 11 knots and a range of 4,000nm.

Completed in 2015, Moka features exterior design from Franceso Paszowski and was revealed during the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2015. Sanlorenzo has since sold five units of the 460 Explorer, four of which are still currently under construction at the yard.
