Yachting Pages has put several of the leading safety cases (and other associated products) to the test. The objective: to ascertain how each product performs and determine which one is best equipped to safely contain a lithium battery-induced fire.
An electrical technical engineer (ETO) currently working on board a 90-metre+ (295-foot+) yacht has launched a new Wi-Fi device that allows guests on board to quickly and efficiently connect their electronic devices.
The purpose of the device is to alleviate the need for laminated cards containing the Wi-Fi password and having the stewardesses type the password into all the guests’ devices.
The device, known as YachtPorter, requires no power, no touching and no cleaning. It allows guests to tap or scan their mobile device and instantly connect to the guest network. There is also an option to add an on-screen welcome message.
After finding the product in a different sector, the founder of YachtPorter is now the exclusive supplier for the superyacht industry. The devices are now on a range of both private and charter sailing and motor yachts from 50 to 140 metres (164 to 459 feet), with excellent feedback from guests. Additionally, the device is being used elsewhere in the industry, such as offices and conference rooms, in which visitors are welcomed daily.
YachtPorter is currently dealing with a high number of orders and client requests, such as a gold-coloured version of the device, and it is working hard to meet this demand.
