Despite the many struggles this year has thrust upon us, 2020 has delivered some breath-taking superyachts to their owners. From Jacuzzis and spas to Jet Skis and helidecks, these stunning vessels have a range of spectacular features – and they are huge.
So, to wrap up what’s been a rollercoaster year, here are the top 10 largest superyachts delivered in 2020.
Feadship’s 75-metre (246-foot) Arrow was drawn by Jonny Horsfield and his team at H2 Yacht Design studio in London. The interiors feature backlit marble and varnished teak. The exterior meanwhile features low glass railings and expansive gangways to make for an outstandingly spacious feel. Guests can enjoy relaxation with the exquisite sun deck and Jacuzzi, summer meals with the pizza oven and barbeque or training in the gym. The spectacular mega yacht can reach a top speed of 17 knots and can accommodate 12 guests and 22 crew.
Damen’s 77-metre (252.6-foot) luxury expedition yacht, La Datcha, is built for adventure. She is designed to travel to a range of climates from polar discovery to tropical pleasure. The yacht is perfect for exploring secluded locations with its two helicopters, dive centre, wave runners and snowscooters. The superyacht also features two Jacuzzis, a spa and gym for a true luxury resort experience. La Datcha has a maximum speed of 14.5 knots and can sleep 12 guests as well as 25 crew.
Nobiskrug’s futuristic 80-metre (263-foot) superyacht, Artefact, was delivered to her owner in March 2020. Gregory C. Marshall designed her eye-catching glass-panel exteriors. An engineer and accomplished entrepreneur, the owner wanted to minimise emissions and the impact on the environment. Artefact boasts on-board solar panels, which allows her to minimise the use of internal combustion engines. She also features an innovative diesel-electric propulsion system which makes her up to 30% more efficient than other diesel yachts of her size. Lastly, the yacht uses dynamic positioning technology which ensures she can maintain her position on water, meaning there is no need to drop and anchor and damage the seabed. Artefact can reach a top speed of 17.8 knots and can accommodate up to 16 guests and 24 crew.
Royal Huisman’s magnificent 81-metre (266-foot) Sea Eagle II is the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht. Key features include a large sundeck with full flybridge controls, while the sheltered cockpit on the deck below features a bar, sofas and a large alfresco dining area. The vessel can reach an impressive top speed of 21 knots and can accommodate up to 12 guests and 13 crew.
Previously known as Project Hawaii, Lurssen’s 87-metre (285-foot) Avantage was designed by Bannenberg & Rowell. Her impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her the ideal yacht for socialising and entertaining with family and friends. Guests can enjoy the sundeck Jacuzzi, swim platform, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Avantage can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots and can sleep 12 guests (across six staterooms) and 30 crew members to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Ulstein Verft’s 88.5-metre (290-foot) Olivia O is not typical in style; she features a trademarked reverse-bow design called the X-Bow. The design reduces pitching in heavy seas, while piercing smaller waves, and allowing comfort at faster speeds. Some of her impressive highlights are a large swimming pool and helideck. Olivia O offers accommodation to up to 20 guests (across eight cabins) and 30 crew members.
Golden Yacht’s 95-metre (312-foot) superyacht O’Pari has been built with an aerodynamic look. The exterior deck areas include a helideck, sundeck with DJ booth, bar and Jacuzzi. For the interior, Golden Yachts worked with Arc Art Advisory to create a custom art collection for display. These include paintings, photographs, installations and sculptures that relate to the relationship between man and nature, naval architecture and seascapes. With a top speed of 18 knots, O’Pari can welcome 12 guests on board overnight as well as 28 crew.
Feadship’s spectacular 100-metre (328-foot) Moonrise is the largest superyacht built in the Netherlands to date. Designed by Studio De Voogt, she boasts a wide range of elegant details, long-hull windows, a glorious grey hull and striking vertical bow. Guests will benefit from the huge effort expended on keeping Moonrise exceptionally quiet, creating a peaceful, luxury experience. She can reach an impressive top speed of 19.5 knots and can sleep up to 16 guests, taken care of by 32 crew members.
Benetti’s custom 107.6-metre (353-foot) Luminosity sets a new benchmark for design, technology and construction. She boasts incredible features including her own private luxury health club with a steam room. When the side shell doors are open, this becomes a sea-level spa, complete with a fully equipped gym and swimming pool. Luminosity can reach a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and can accommodate 27 guests and up to 37 crew.
Previously known as Project Lightning, Lurssen’s whopping 140-metre (459-foot) has been delivered to her owner and is officially the largest superyacht of 2020. Key design features include a pair of helidecks, impressive underwater lighting and high-volume interiors that allow for plenty of indoor space for relaxation and entertainment. At 10,168 GT, Scheherazade is believed to be the 6th largest Lurssen superyacht ever delivered. The vessel can reach a top speed of 20 knots and can sleep 18 guests and 40 crew.
