Christensen unveils 40m raised pilothouse concept

American yard Christensen has released its latest concept for a 40m raised pilothouse yacht.

The in-house design features a ‘dramatic’ swooping arch, leading from the transom to the radar arch, and was first revealed earlier this month at the 2017 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Speaking at the show, Christensen president Jim Gilbert commented, “In the last year we’ve had clients come in requesting designs for smaller boats. We think there’s a market in the 40-45m range. We build on a platform so we can change the superstructure in any way a client wants.”

The vessel accommodates up to ten guests split across five en-suite staterooms, including a main deck owner’s suite, two twins and two doubles. The crew quarters allows for a staff of up to five people.

Communal areas are vast, with the main deck aft containing built-in seating and an adjacent superyacht bar. Inside, the saloon boasts a large sofa, three armchairs and a large dining table that can accommodate all ten guests at once.

The standout design characteristic comes on the superyacht sundeck, with its al fresco dining area, second bar with numerous stools and octagonal spa pool. Beneath this space, there is room to house a pair of jet skis and a tender.

Powered by a pair of MTU 12V 4000 M93 engines, a top speed of 18 knots is achievable. She has a cruising speed of 10 knots with a range in excess of 2,500nm, thanks to a total fuel capacity of more than 26,000 litres.

Other superyacht projects currently in development at Christensen’s yard in Washington include the 50m Project Liquidity, due for delivery in 2018.
