Construction continues on new 70m Benetti, M/Y Alkhor

With August seeing the steel and aluminium hull and superstructure of Benetti’s 70m FB723 superyacht joined, the yacht builder has released new construction updates on its full-custom offering.

According to Benetti, M/Y Alkhor is on schedule for delivery in the summer of 2019. Spread over six decks, she presents a layout that features six double-guest cabins, nine crew cabins and a dedicated owner’s suite, as well as spacious indoor and outdoor areas for socialising and privacy.

Her exteriors are based on a concept by the shipyard’s technical office, with notable features including a large swimming pool in the bow of the main deck and ample sunbathing areas. Her sky deck houses a Jacuzzi with a glass floor that serves as a skylight for the stairwell and elevator beneath, which serves all decks.

An open-air dining area occupies approximately 60sqm of the stern sun deck, while the owner’s private apartment is located on the upper deck, housing with a private living area that offers spectacular views out. The suite also features walk-in wardrobes, a bathroom, an office and private terrace. Plans for this deck also include a gym with massage table and a living area with TV and home-theatre systems.

Other entertainment areas are also planned for the main deck, which currently features a full-beam dining space and 105sqm living room with a screening area.

Guest cabins are located on her lower deck, and crew cabins for up to 12 are arranged in a way that will guarantee privacy for both owners and guests.

Plans for Alkhor also include a tender, two Jet Skis and a rescue boat. Once complete, she will be powered by two 2,400hp Caterpillar engines to give her a range of 5,000nm at a low-consumption speed of 12 knots, while her top speed will be roughly 16 knots. Like other Benetti yachts, noise and vibration levels will be kept low.

With over 30 yachts in-build at facilities in Viareggio and Livorno, Benetti is arguably one of the industry’s busiest shipyards at the current time, recently launching the second hull of its Mediterraneo range (BM002), and working on 63m Project Balance, which is due to hit the water next year.
