Dereckor Shipyards appoints new chief operating officer

Derecktor Shipyards has announced that Richard Steady will be appointed as chief operating officer for the 75-year-old yard. Steady has held many executive maritime positions and bring impressive credentials to Derecktor.

Steady commented, “I am excited about joining the team at Derecktor and being a part of the effort to grow the organisation to ensure another 75 years of success.”

Steady began his career at Maritrans, the global shipping and transportation company, where he rose to the position of director of government and regulatory affairs. He also held key roles at Weeks Marine as director of marine services and American Marine Corporation where he was executive vice president.

Steady will be based out of Derecktor Dania where he will be responsible for overall operations and development at Derecktor’s Florida and New York shipyards, encompassing new vessel construction along with yacht and commercial refit and service.
