Kate Powers, founder of iconic Stars’N’Bars in Monaco, passes away

Kate Powers, the popular co-founder of Stars’N’Bars in Monaco, has passed away.

She passed away on Monday 30th August after a short illness.

Powers moved to Monaco from the United States in the 1950s. Alongside her brother Mike Powers, she opened the famous Le Texan restaurant. This was followed up by the creation of Stars’N’Bars on the Port of Monaco with her partner Didier Rubiolo.

Alongside her professional commitments, Powers was actively involved in a range of ecological and climate change initiatives – including the Eco Angels initiative that ran following the conclusion of Monaco Yacht Show.

In 2009, she became a Monegasque citizen and was awarded the Order of Saint Charles – Monaco’s highest honour, given to outstanding citizens.

In a short comment, Stars’N’Bars said, “We will never forget her unwavering positivity and desire to help others.”
