Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio, who famously did not survive the sinking of the vessel in James Cameron’s film, is being praised for his contribution to rescuing a man from drowning while on his Caribbean holiday last month (30^th December).

The Frenchman, 24, who had reportedly toppled drunkenly from his yacht near St. Bart’s, was saved by the actor after 11 hours of treading water.

The rescue occurred when the captain of DiCaprio’s vessel was notified that a man had fallen from a yacht. DiCaprio instantly agreed that the boat should change course to look for the struggling man, and eventually, after hours of searching in rough water, the man was found, waving his hands.

The crew of DiCaprio’s vessel pulled him from the water to safety before nightfall, just as an enormous storm moved into the area.
