Dutch company Lift Emotion has reported a busy 2015, ahead of the opening of METS this Tuesday. Specialising in the design, installation and maintenance of elevators and dumbwaiters, it has taken on a number of projects on several large superyachts this year.
According to Lift Emotion, one of its most challenging projects has been the refit of the Malcolm Miller sailing yacht, originally built by John Lewis & Sons in 1962. The company was required to build a dumbwaiter that could travel under an angle of approximately 45degrees, with the yacht being 45.67 metres long. The problem was solved by a special drive, shown in the image above.
Mike Brandt of Lift Emotion revealed that the company is also installing several unique products for a 100+ metre superyacht, two new build C-line elevators for a Dutch client and a further three C-line elevators for the refit of a 90 metre superyacht.
Speaking about the superyacht refit project, Brandt commented, “The refit vessel will receive the latest technology regarding the hydraulic drive system for elevators, meaning our frequency driven hydraulic drive system. Due to the wish of this repeat client, two of the elevators have a speed of one m/s instead of the normal 0.6 m/s.
Lift Emotion will be attending tomorrow’s METS in Amsterdam until the show’s end on the 19th November, located at Stand 10.307 at the Superyacht pavilion. Last year’s show saw several orders for the company from Echo Yachts, all of which are set to be installed shortly.
