Mastercraft X24 wins 2019 NMMA Innovation Award at Miami Yacht Show

The NMMA and Boating Writers International (BWI) selected MasterCraft’s X24 tender as a winner of a 2019 Innovation Award – an award that recognises groundbreaking new consumer marine products.

MasterCraft, which boasts a bespoke superyacht tender division, have developed a new surf-specific hull design that, when equipped with up to 1,949KG (4,300lbs) of ballast and MasterCraft’s Gen 2 Surf System, creates the industry’s largest wake that is sculpted and customised through MasterCraft technology.

According to the yard, the X24 offers a luxurious cabin with room for up to 18 passengers on board. A full range of bespoke options is available depending on the needs of owners.

The MasterCraft X24 features a number of further innovations, including the new FastFill Ballast System that fills the X24’s ballast tanks in under three minutes. It also sees the introduction of the Switchback Ballast Tank; once full, the tank instantly shifts ballast from side-to-side to suit the rider’s preference.

The Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show Innovation Awards were presented during Miami Yacht Show. This year’s programme evaluated 66 products across 26 categories. The Innovation Awards judges’ committee consists of eight BWI members who perform product testing throughout the year and have specific expertise in marine products and equipment.

Discussing what the success means for customers, MasterCraft Boats UK managing director Michael Hardicker noted, “MasterCraft is expanding its dominance in the market with its wake surfing technology and the new X24 brings several new developments that improve the experience for both the driver and the rider. Our superyacht clients really appreciate how easy it is to create a great on-the-water experience in the X24.”
