Naval architecture firm Rob Doyle Design and studio Van Geest Design have teamed up for a 93-metre (305-foot) performance ketch concept which focuses on accessibility and simplicity.

The family-friendly design is from the original design team which helped create Mirabella V – the largest single-mast yacht ever built. With no winches, blocs or sheet handling, sailing is smoother and easier than standard, with a built-in system automating the process to allow for more time and space for social activities.

The concept’s exterior lines take inspiration from “sandy sea beds and water ripples”, with elegant curves visible in the artwork shared by the team. Lighting also plays a prominent role in the design, with an “open-sky atmosphere” crafted through lighting in the rigging.

Rob Doyle Design and Van Geest Design’s concept features foredeck storage for a pair of 10-metre guest tenders and one six-metre crew tender. A sky deck, offering full 360-degree views, is located in the piloting area, while an open transom provides full beach access. A seawater pool and tub can also be found on the deck.

The design team has described the new ketch’s interiors as a “blank canvas”; it will be fully customisable and can be tailored to an owner’s tastes and needs.
