Oceanus Marine, a leading yacht surveyor and marine consultant in Malta, has recently announced they are able to inspect/survey Maltese flagged vessels/yachts under 500 GT, which are compliant of the code, and certify as/when required if compliant.
They are now also able to assist owners/masters with any necessary technical formalities, manuals, procedures or requirements. Furthermore Oceanus Marine is now also in a position to train the trainers and inspectors and carry out basic courses for vessel/yacht officers and crew in MLC 2006.
This news comes from the fact that Malta has ratified the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006) and thus has become the 34th International Labour Organisation (ILO) member state to ensure that crew and seafarers are given safe and habitable conditions for them to live and work under.
Being the 12th EU member state to take such a stand, Oceanus Marine Ltd’s senior surveyor recently attended to the specified course titled, “Training of Trainers & and Maritime Inspectors” in June at the ILO Maritime Academy in Turin, Italy.
