Project Antares becomes Heesen’s first launch of 2019

Dutch yard Heesen has launched its 55-metre (180-foot) Steel class superyacht Project Antares. The steel and aluminium yacht was officially launched on 4^th January and is the first of five vessels due to launch in 2019.

It comes after the hull and aluminium superstructure were joined in June 2017 – the same year that it was announced the project had been sold to an American yachtsman.

A full displacement yacht, it boasts naval architecture by Van Oosanen and exterior styling by established yard collaborator Omega Architects. The interior décor is the work of Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini.

In photos released by Heesen, Project Antares features large vertical windows, which allows for plenty of natural light in the master suite. The yard has confirmed that she will act as the mothership to the owner’s fleet of sportfish yachts, storing extra fuel so that the smaller vessels can be refuelled when required.

Accommodation on board the 740GT yacht has not been disclosed, but it has been confirmed that the owner’s cabin has been extended from the original design to measure 80 metres squared. Meanwhile, the lobby and the skylounge are customisable to suit the lifestyle and tastes of its owners.

Speaking in 2017, Paszkowski noted, “We are going to do detailed research into select materials that will add luxury to the interiors. We are confident that the shipyard and the highly talented team from Heesen Yachts Interiors, will be able to – once again – perfectly craft what we have designed.”
