Tankoa Yachts S501 superyacht project edges closer to launch

Tankoa Yachts has revealed that construction is now underway on its S501 superyacht project in Genoa, Italy.

The 50m superyacht is reported to be a defining project for the shipyard, with delivery currently due for April 2017. Tankoa describes her as “the ultimate concept of a 50m length yacht.”

Guido Orsi, president of Tankoa, said of the work of exterior designer Francesco Paszkowski, “With S501, he pushed all the limits of design and aesthetic purity way beyond anything you can find on any other fifty metre.”

The S501 is described as having an innovative layout, with standout features including lateral fold-out terraces, floor-to-ceiling windows, a 7m tender garage and large exterior spaces. She is fitted with two 2.720 kW engines, and is able to reach a cruising speed of 14 knots, a maximum speed at half load of 18 knots, and a range of 4,500nm at 11 knots.

Albert McIlroy, the owner’s representative commented, “I followed the construction of the first delivered Tankoa Yacht, the 69.30m Suerte. This was a very large yacht for a first, but it was backed by the limitless experience of Tankoa’s managers and technical office.

“I can say that having supervised the construction of many yachts in Holland, not only the work pace and productivity at Tankoa are superior, but it is also probably the first time I’ve seen a yacht that size where the production schedule is fully respected without altering the incredible flexibility Tankoa is known for.”
