The WallyCento 100 sailing superyacht Hamilton, which launched last June has won the Sailing Yacht 25-40m category in this year’s International Yacht & Aviation Awards.
The awards ceremony took place last Friday at the Connaught Hotel in London. The IY&A Awards are unique in the world of superyacht awards in that the winners are chosen by members of the public via online voting, rather than by the more usual panel of judges.
Hamilton features interior and exterior styling by Design Unlimited. The first of the new WallyCento class, she is designed to combine both comfortable cruising and fast, exciting racing. With that in mind the interior had to be designed and engineered to hit challenging weight targets yet show minimal compromise when it came to amenities and accommodation.
The result is a bright, airy interior using natural tones offset by splashes of colour set alongside carbon fibre elements for dramatic effect.
Mark Tucker of Design Unlimited said, “We’re delighted that Hamilton has been voted the best new sailing yacht (25-40m) of the past twelve months. “We, along with the other partners involved in her design and build, put in a great deal of time and effort to produce a yacht that would fulfil the expectations of her owner, using the latest materials and technology. We were very pleased with the result, and it’s wonderful to see that the wider public feel the same way.”
