The team at ‘NOW That’s What I Call Music’ have come up with the ideal soundtrack to listen to whilst you’re out cruising on your yacht this season. ‘Now That’s What I Call Yacht Rock’, a series of ‘yacht rock’ classics, will be sailing into record stores next month.
‘Yacht rock’ refers to the brand of smooth, mellow, soft rock, often from the 1970’s and early ‘80s, which frequently features elements of Jazz, R&B and soul music. Some of the genre’s biggest names include Toto, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald.
The term ‘yacht rock’ originated from an online video series in 2005 and was initially somewhat derogatory, but has now been adopted by music fans and artists alike.
‘NOW That’s What I Call Yacht Rock’ will be released on 2nd August 2019 on CD, LP and digitally.
