British shipyard Pendennis has announced the signing of a new 40-metre (131-foot) Hoek Truly Classic 128 sailing yacht, its landmark 30th new build which is serendipitously detailed as the yard marks its 30th anniversary.
The second superyacht in the design class – which has been created by Dutch collective Hoek Design – is the fourth in the Cornwall-based yard’s Truly Classic series, following Atalante and Vijonara (the latter of which was launched last month). A third hull vessel is under construction at SES Yachts in Turkey.
MCM is acting as the owner’s representative during the construction of the new Truly Classic 128. As well as crafting the sleek naval architecture, Hoek is working on the interior design.
In a statement, Mike Carr, Pendennis’ managing director, said, “Pendennis has continually invested in both its facilities and skills base over the last 30 years, enabling the company to grow into a global contender. Signing such a prestigious contract in this, our milestone year, is a true testament to that. We are very proud to welcome this project into the Pendennis superyacht fleet.”
Designer André Hoek added, “We are proud to be involved in this project for a repeat client who previously owned a smaller yacht in the Truly Classic range. The great experience working with Pendennis on S/Y Vijonara has definitely had an influence in the decision to build again with them."
